All faculty should be enrolled in the Teaching with Blackboard course and will find it in their "Courses you are taking" module. The course is a good way to get started and can serve as a resource even for instructors who've worked with Blackboard for some time. This tool is especially handly for faculty who've used Blackboard at other institutions, as we may be using tools and employing standard practices which differ somewhat from what might be found elsewhere.

'''Teaching and Learning with Technology Curriculum'''
'''Teaching and Learning with Technology Curriculum'''

In academic year 2017 the Center for Teaching and Learning with Technology began offering a learning curriculum based on our twin goals of promoting faculty support of integrating technology with course design and delivery. Each of the four-part curricula addresses central issues in teaching with technology in order to provide faculty with new pedagogical perspectives. The program will continue in academic year 2018 with some minor adjustments to the offerings.
''ABSTRACT''

The Teaching with Technology Curriculum is designed to help faculty creatively integrate technology with instructing. Short colloquia and one-day seminars fall into three overlapping categories:
''Curriculum I, Integrating Technology with Face-to-face Education'' focuses on tools essential to modern teaching.

Blackboard Intermediate – Enhancing your Traditional Course – for instructors experienced with Blackboard this one-day seminar concentrates on issues related to assessments, asynchronous communication, multi-media and course layout.

best practices teaching with a learning management system

Integrating Social Media with Coursework helps instructors incorporate blogs, document sharing, media sharing, and social networking into course projects and assessments.

course design mediated by the Quality Matters program, and

Aligning Learning Objectives with Course Content helps faculty create a course map illustrating how each course element supports and ultimately relates back to the course/module learning objectives.

teaching innovations

Active Learning Institute helps faculty implement the active learning strategies and evidence-based practice appropriate to the classroom environment.

''Curriculum II, The Principles of Course Design'' introduces elements to help faculty prepare technology-forward courses.
''OVERVIEW''

The goal of this ten course curriculum aims to promote retention by enhancing faculty aptitude for teaching in a rapidly changing classroom environment. The curriculum focuses on three areas:

Applying the Quality Matters Rubric explores the Quality Matter rubric for online course design and provides a framework for improving the value of online and blended courses.

A sophisticated understanding of the features, educational possibilities and operations of the learning management system (Blackboard)

Designing Courses Using Open Educational Resources helps faculty locate, analyze and use open (i.e. no cost!) educational resources including textbooks, quizzes, multi-media and even complete courses.

How good course design – inspired by the Quality Matters program -- improves teaching and learning

Principles of Universal Design is a stepping off point for building technology-enhanced courses that are usable and accessible for all members of the student community.

An exploration of various teaching innovations including use of social media, free educational resources (textbooks, videos, presentations etc.), and active learning, a technique for involving students in their own education.

Blended Learning Bootcamp this hybrid course helps faculty prepare courses that combine face-to-face and online learning through the application of research and experience.

With a more complete understanding of the learning software, course design and recent innovations faculty will be better prepared to help 21st century students gain the education they need to complete their educations and compete successfully in the workplace.

Media Services is located on the first floor of the David and Lorraine Cheng Library with satellite offices in Science East 3054, Valley Road 16, and Hobart Hall 116. IRT supports the instructional and research needs of WPUNJ faculty, staff and students. Media Services acquires, maintains and provides access to audio visual materials and accompanying equipment that represents all academic disciplines. Media Services oversees the smart classrooms, audio and listening facilities, production services and streaming content.
== Classroom Technology Support ==

The Media Services library collections contains materials covering all academic disciplines in a variety of formats with over 19,000 DVDs and videotapes, 1000's streaming videos, audio CDs, CD-ROMS, 16mm films, and kits and games. Equipment circulation includes wireless laptops, iPads, digital recorders, flip cameras, student response systems (clickers), and portable projectors
IRT Classroom Technology Support (CTS) is available for real-time help if you have difficulties with classroom AV equipment while you are teaching. Call the Help Desk at 973-720-4357 and choose option 1. You will be connected directly to a CTS tech, who can help you troubleshoot the issue. Teaching with Blackboard All faculty are automatically enrolled in the Teaching with Blackboard course and will find it in their "Courses you are taking" module on their Blackboard Home Page. The course is a good way to get started and can serve as a resource for new instructors as well as those who've worked with Blackboard for some time. This tool is especially handy for faculty who've used Blackboard at other institutions, as we may be using tools and employing standard practices which differ somewhat from what might be found elsewhere.

Teaching and Learning with Technology Curriculum

ABSTRACT

The Teaching with Technology Curriculum is designed to help faculty creatively integrate technology with instructing. Short colloquia and one-day seminars fall into three overlapping categories:

 • best practices teaching with a learning management system
 • course design mediated by the Quality Matters program, and
 • teaching innovations

OVERVIEW

The goal of this ten course curriculum aims to promote retention by enhancing faculty aptitude for teaching in a rapidly changing classroom environment. The curriculum focuses on three areas:

 • A sophisticated understanding of the features, educational possibilities and operations of the learning management system (Blackboard)
 • How good course design – inspired by the Quality Matters program -- improves teaching and learning
 • An exploration of various teaching innovations including use of social media, free educational resources (textbooks, videos, presentations etc.), and active learning, a technique for involving students in their own education.

With a more complete understanding of the learning software, course design and recent innovations faculty will be better prepared to help 21st century students gain the education they need to complete their educations and compete successfully in the workplace.

The Center for Teaching with Technology (CTT), located in room 120k of the Cheng Library, is focused on providing dynamic consultation in pedagogy and technology and offering instructional design and development services for faculty members at William Paterson University.
